FAQIs Building Bridges designed for parent or school system use?
Building Bridges was designed to be effectively used in schools, by community organizations, or within agencies that support students on the Autism Spectrum. Parents have used Building Bridges as an informational tool to support their child in multiple settings. Can Building Bridges be used for middle or high schools? Bridges has multiple sections and social skills lessons, which support all ages of students within the school setting. The lesson plans are written for individual or group implementation and include multiple levels of activities to meet the changing abilities of our student population. Does Building Bridges meet only the needs of students on the Autism Spectrum? No, Building Bridges in being used as an effective support for students including those with emotional disturbances, intellectual challenges, learning or speech disabilities, or for students who simply need additional “fluffing and puffing” around issues of social skills and appropriateness. Do you need special training in order to successfully use the Building Bridges Guide? No, all of the materials within the DVD are user friendly. These materials/lessons were created by a team of professionals, which include social workers, psychologists, speech and language pathologists, special and general educators, and school guidance counselors. The social skills lesson plans can be used throughout the building and by most adults supporting students. |
